The BCM is a new club that offers help, support and often expertise to help keep your Classic Mini in working order and also enthusiasm. Brothers Steve and Pip Hoe set up the Bomber County Minis club to get more people to share their passion for the Mini. The club is slowly growing in numbers and characters and meets on Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons at Tyre & Tech Garage to swap stories and to complete those ever increasing jobs on our beloved Mini's. Lincolnshire is known as Bomber County because of the number of active airfields within its borders during World War II. There were 49 fields. More airfields than any other County in England. The average distance between airfields was 7.5 miles. Twenty-eight of these fields were bomber bases. Longbridge has an infinity with both the Classic Mini and also the RAF. During the Second World War Austin continued building cars but also made trucks and aircraft, including the construction of the Lancaster bombers of 617 squadron, better known as the Dambusters. In 1959 Longbridge gave birth to our lovely mini. Within the club we have both experts on everything Mini, from repairing, manufacturing and "thinking outside of the box" to get that Mini back on the road to novices who know how to put the kettle on and make a brew.
